Why did you choose VUMC Emergency Medicine?
I rotated at VUMC as a medical student, and the whole system blew me away. Everything ran smoothly, there was great education, and everyone was smart. I wanted to surround myself with smart people who would challenge me and make me a great doctor. On top of that, there was a feel that the residents and faculty got along well and cared about each other, which certainly helps make a busy three years easier.
What are your interests within Emergency Medicine?
Emergency Medical Services
What would you be doing if you weren't doing Emergency Medicine?
I'd consider anesthesiology, but realistically I'd be working in finance or business somewhere doing investing, since that's what my undergraduate degree was in.
What's your 5-year plan?
Planning on EMS fellowship next year, and then I'd love to continue working in EMS as a medical director as well as various other roles, and working clinically in an academic setting too.
What's a random fact about you?
My biggest mistake in life was turning down dinner with the Dalai Lama. You'll have to ask me in person for the story.
