Joan Henning, MD

Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine 

Dr. Henning is a Tennessee native. She received her B.S. from Mississippi State University. She attended Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and then completed her emergency medicine training at Northwestern University in Chicago where she served as chief resident.

She returned to Vanderbilt University Medical Center directly after residency and is currently an Assistant Professor working part-time in the adult emergency department. She serves on the Clinical Competency Committee.

She and her husband Chris have two young boys, James and John. She enjoys biking, sailing, birding, gardening, cooking, and pre-children was becoming an accomplished potter. She is on an endless pursuit to find balance in life, work and play and the remodel of a 1920 craftsman bungalow.
