Dr. Barrett attended Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and completed a transitional year internship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center followed by residency in Emergency Medicine at UCLA/Olive View-UCLA. Prior to joining Vanderbilt’s faculty, Dr. Barrett served as chief resident in Emergency Medicine at UCLA. He has numerous research and practice interests including the personalized treatment and risk stratification of ED patients with atrial fibrillation, atrial fibrillation pharmacogenomics, trauma resuscitation, measuring efficacy of common ED therapies, EM coding and documentation, and non-invasive monitoring. Dr. Barrett has lectured internationally on trauma management in China and Russia. He has published 50 manuscripts and abstracts and is also serves as Section Editor for the Annals of Emergency Medicine Journal Club. Dr. Barrett is married and his wife, Kelly, also works at Vanderbilt University in the Management Information Services department. |
