Application Process - Vanderbilt Emergency Medicine - EM Residency

Applying to Vanderbilt's Emergency Medicine Residency Program

Applying to any residency or fellowship program can be a challenging and time consuming process. We encourage all applicants to start as soon as possible. This is important in the event of unforeseen delays or problems that might prevent the timely processing of your application.

You must submit the following items to ERAS for your application to be considered:

ERAS Common Application Form
Dean's Letter
Medical School Transcript
Three to four letters of recommendation, with at least one from an emergency medicine physician
Personal Statement
Medical Examination Scores (USMLE and board scores are required)
A photo is strongly encouraged. (This helps refresh memories after interviewing is finished.)

***Please note that your examination scores are not automatically sent by your Dean's Office.

You must ask that your scores be sent with your other application materials.

The decision making process

We like to see applications as soon as possible after ERAS opens. USMLE scores, medical school transcripts, and letters of recommendation are the most important pieces of information needed early in the application process. Please ensure all of your information is correct and current.

There is a committee of 8 faculty members who review all applications on a revolving basis. These reviews are holistic and examine all aspects of an application.
