Dr. Heavrin completed medical school and business school at Vandy, began residency training in internal medicine and transitioned into emergency medicine. Ben served as chief resident at Vandy in 2008-09. His academic interests include acute resuscitation, macroeconomic health policy and applied health economics. Dr. Heavrin has multiple health policy research interests related to emergency care, including macroeconomic drivers of emergency department use, consumerism in the clinical transaction, utilization trends based on payor type, inefficiencies in the consumption of emergency department services, emergency department "super-users," and supply side health economics in the emergency department.
